Neighbors concerned over future rooftop bar
LEXINGTON, Ky. (ABC 36 NEWSNOW) — Neighbors are concerned about a new bar under construction in University Plaza off Woodland Avenue in Lexington.
‘Two-Fisted Willy’s’ will sit in between ‘Great Bagel’ and ‘Subway’ as a rooftop bar. Across the street, neighbors are worried it might be too loud, and bring more traffic to the area.
Lauren Gawthrop lives in the neighborhood, and she says they just installed noise-cancellation windows in their downstairs area. Now, she’s worried the rooftop bar might force them to add those noise-cancellation windows to their upstairs rooms as well.
“We just invested in a bunch of new windows to insulate the sound downstairs from the bars that exist,” Gawthrop said. “Now, it seems the problem is moving upstairs, so we’re hoping that the insulation will hold up for whatever noise is going to be coming from the second story now.”
ABC36 News Now reached out to the owner of the bar for comment but have not yet received a statement.
