Needles found in Halloween candy in Madison County
MADISON COUNTY, KY. (ABC 36 News Now) – Two Madison County families say they discovered contaminated candy in their children’s trick-or-treat bags on Halloween night, prompting an investigation by the Madison County Sheriff’s Office.
In the first case, deputies responded to a home on Hager Drive after a family—who had been trick-or-treating near Highway 1016 in Berea—found two needles inside a package of Twizzlers.
In the second incident, another family reported finding a needle inside an Almond Joy after trick-or-treating in the Boone Way, Derby Chase, and Saratoga Circle areas of Richmond.
The Sheriff’s Office is urging parents and guardians to carefully inspect all Halloween candy before allowing children to eat it.
Anyone with information about either case is asked to contact the Madison County Sheriff’s Office. Both investigations remain ongoing.
