Nearly one hundred pounds of native fish species saved from Buffalo Trace Distillery after flooding

FRANKFORT, Ky. (ABC36 NEWS NOW) — After historic flooding in Frankfort, fish were found stranded nearly a quarter mile from the Kentucky River — on the grounds of Buffalo Trace Distillery.

That’s when students from Kentucky State University stepped in to help. Teaming up with local legend Freddie Johnson, the students rescued nearly 100 pounds of native fish species and safely returned them to the river.
