Nearly $2 million available fight violence against women in Kentucky
FRANKFORT, Ky. (WTVQ) – Kentucky Justice and Public Safety Secretary John Tilley announced Monday that nearly $2 million in federal funding is available through the Violence Against Women Act – Services, Training, Officers and Prosecution (VAWA STOP) Formula Grant Program.
The VAWA STOP funds grant supports, develop and strengthen law enforcement, prosecution, judicial strategies and victim services throughout Kentucky in cases involving violent crimes against women, according to the state.
That includes domestic violence, sexual assault, stalking and dating violence.
The money is from the Office on Violence Against Women, a component of the U.S. Department of Justice.
The application period officially opens Aug. 1, 2019 and continues through Sept. 13, 2019.
The award period is scheduled to begin Jan. 1, 2020.
All applications must be submitted online via the Kentucky Justice Electronic Grants Management System.
