National Star Trek Day celebrates iconic franchise
LEXINGTON, Ky. (ABC36 NEWS NOW) – Monday marks National Star Trek Day, celebrating the anniversary of the original series premiere on September 8, 1966.
What began as a TV show on NBC has become one of the world’s most iconic science fiction franchises, with 15 television series and 13 feature films — and more still in production.
Next year will mark the 60th anniversary of Star Trek, with major celebrations already being planned. Fans continue to follow the cast’s legacy, including William Shatner, who remains active at 94 years old after making history by traveling to space at age 90.
