National School Choice Week rally held at State Capitol

FRANKFORT, Ky. (WTVQ) — Students, parents and educators from across the state gathered Thursday morning at the Capitol for a celebration of school choice.

The event was hosted by Ed Choice Kentucky to raise awareness for K-12 options for families in the state. Educators voiced their opinions on providing these opportunities for children so they have a better chance to learn and succeed.

“Our youth and young adults, our kings and queens, come to us in the 9th grade, the 5th grade, but really they were like they were in the 3rd grade or the 6th grade. So, this educational excellence and this educational choice is needed to be able to level the playing field,” said Tod Moore, the executive director of Dream Center Academy Christian School.

This event comes during National School Choice Week, encouraging parents to discover options available for children such as traditional public school, charter, online and private schooling.
