Murder Trial Day 3: Prosecutors try to pin 2 murder suspects to the scene
LEXINGTON, Ky. (WTVQ)- Monday was day three of the murder trial for the two men accused of shooting and killing marine Jonathan Price outside of Austin City Saloon back in 2014.
Much of the testimony focused on the surveillance video take at the time of the shooting.
Prosecutors continued presenting their case against the two suspects, Quincinio Canada and dawan Mulazim, by bringing up witnesses to speak to where the two were at the time of the crime.
Prosecutors spent much of the day going over the surveillance video taken by police from the nearby liquor store and another shop in the area just before the shooting happened.
In the liquor store video you see a silver car pull up and buy what looks like cigars.
This afternoon the prosecution called up Canada’s girlfriend at the time of the shooting who testified she let him drive her car and identified that car as the car seen in the liquor store surveillance video.
The prosecution also called Mulazim’s sister to the stand who identified Mulazim to police as the driver of that car on the surveillance video.
“They showed me a video and I told them it was my little brother just buying a cigar and then he pulled off,” said Nafeesa Mulazim, Dawan Mulazim’s sister.
The defense continues to argue there is no hard evidence on video or at the crime scene the two were involved in the shooting.
The trial resumes Tuesday at 9 a.m. when the defense is expected to begin their arguments.
