Murder suspect set to appear in court Thursday

Danny Sims faces charges in connection with the 2022 motel murder of William Ashby

LEXINGTON, Ky. (ABC 36 NEWS NOW) — The man charged with murder in connection to a 2022 death at a Lexington motel is set to appear in court Thursday morning.

Danny Sims faces charges of murder and tampering with physical evidence in the death of 64-year-old William Ashby. Ashby’s body was discovered at the Catalina Motel in April 2022, bound with duct tape and with his throat slashed.

Sims was arrested alongside Alysha Noel, and both were charged with murder.

Investigators say Ashby’s body was found under a bed at the motel. Sims’ status hearing is scheduled for 9 a.m. today.
