KSP UPDATE: Barbourville man shot to death

HINKLE, Ky. (WTVQ) – We now know the cause of death of a man who was found dead in Knox County last week.

Stat Police say 32-year-old Michael Sowders, of Barbourville, was shot to death.

They say he was found at around 8:50 a.m. Friday off Hinkle Branch Road.

Detectives say inmates found Sowders body while cleaning up a dump site over an embankment.

Troopers say Sowders had been murdered and his body placed at the dump site.

As of this writing, no suspects had been named, no arrests made.
