Multiple Fire Agencies Respond to Structure Fire in Somerset
SOMERSET, Ky. (ABC36 NEWS NOW) — Fire crews from several departments responded Saturday to a structure fire on Starview Drive, according to the Somerset Fire Department.
Officials said Somerset fire crews were dispatched on Feb. 28 to assist Parker’s Mill Volunteer Fire Department. Two Somerset engine companies responded, and a citywide all-call was issued to ensure coverage within Somerset.
A large plume of smoke could be seen for miles as crews approached the scene. Firefighters reported the structure was fully involved with a heavy fire load. All occupants were confirmed to have escaped the structure safely.
Due to the intensity of the fire and roof and exterior wall collapse, crews established a defensive fire attack. Firefighters remained on scene for several hours working to bring the blaze under control.
Assisting agencies included the Burnside, Tateville, and Nancy Volunteer Fire Departments, Somerset–Pulaski County EMS, the Somerset–Pulaski County Rescue Squad, and the American Red Cross.
No injuries were reported. The cause of the fire was not immediately released.
