Multiple Dumpster Fires Prompts Arson Investigation
An arson investigation is underway after the Lexington Fire Department put out four dumpster fires over the weekend. ABC 36 was on the scene as they put out the fourth fire overnight. The Fire Department suspects that these fires are intentional. The dumpster fire on Malabu Drive is where the last hot spot was put out shortly after midnight. That call came ten minutes after they responded to another dumpster fire on West Lowry Drive and Nicholasville Road. That fire was behind a shopping plaza, just a block away.
Fire Captain Mark Brown says these fires could have caused major damage to nearby buildings. The last fire he says was under some power lines and fire crews caught it in time before it melted the cable and telephone lines.
