Muhammad Ali tribute at Kentucky Theatre

LEXINGTON, Ky. (WTVQ) – While crowds celebrate Muhammad Ali’s life in his hometown of Louisville; fans in Lexington are expected to gather at the historic Kentucky Theatre.

The theater plans to honor the champion with a one time showing of ” When We Were Kings”. The academy award-winning documentary was first released 20 years ago and highlights Ali’s boxing career.

The documentary features a 1974 fight between the heavy weight champion and George Forman in Zaire (Republic of Congo), also known as the ‘Rumble in the Jungle’ .

Managers at the Kentucky Theatre say they planned the showing to coincide with Ali’s memorial in Louisville. The manager says the one time showing is a great way to celebrate the native Kentuckian as well as unite fans in Lexington.
