Mt. Sterling PD on lookout for individual with active arrest warrant

UPDATE 5/27/21 10 p.m.

MOUNT STERLING, Ky. (WTVQ)- State Police in Morehead are investigating after a Mount Sterling Police officer fired shots at a suspect.

According to KSP, around 2:30 a.m. Thursday, the officers stopped 45-year-old James Bussell from Owingsville for a traffic violation.

Bussell reportedly sped away from the officer then made a U-turn and tried to run the officer over.

The officer shot at Bussell, but he wasn’t hit.

Bussell then reportedly made another U-turn and tried to run the officer over again, but instead, he got stuck and ran off.

MOUNT STERLING, Ky. (WTVQ) – The Mount Sterling Police department needs the public’s help in finding a man wanted on multiple charges.

According to their Facebook page, police are looking for James Bussell, 46 of Owingsville. Bussell has an active arrest warrant for attempted murder of a police officer, fleeing or evading police – first degree – motor vehicle, and wanton endangerment – first degree – police officer.
