Mountain Parkway Expansion in full swing
SALYERSVILLE, Ky (WTVQ) — The first concrete for Glifford Road’s interchange was poured on Tuesday, May 26, marking an important milestone for the Mountain Parkway Expansion project.
Supported by the Kentucky Transportation cabinet, officials at Bizzwork Construction say their initial work will create a culvert to allow water to flow under the bridge.
“This project is really starting to take shape, and the public is starting to see the improvements that are coming,” said Marshall Carrier, a Kentucky Transportation Cabinet engineer. “We’re quickly making progress here. With the construction season in full swing, we’ll soon have clearing and construction work going on about six miles of the project.”
Officials say segments of this project will include widening 30 miles of the existing parkway, and expending the parkway another 16 miles along KY 114. The project aims to smooth interchanges and realign the parkway to remove a large curve in it.
