Mount Sterling business destroyed in early morning fire

Mount Sterling, Ky. (WTVQ) – The Montgomery Fire Department is investigating a fire that destroyed Rayburn’s Market in Mount Sterling Sunday morning.

Investigators told ABC 36 the fire started around 5 a.m. As crews battled the fire parts of the building collapsed.

State police say there were people in the building when the fire started, but they made it out safely.

Fire crews are still putting out hot spots and police have blocked off Richmond Avenue.

Neighbors told ABC 36 Rayburn’s Market has been around for decades and this is a major loss for their community.
