Mother, stepfather of 10-year-old Jayden Spicer plead not guilty in murder case
BREATHITT COUNTY, Ky. (ABC36 NEWS NOW) – The mother and stepfather of 10-year-old Jayden Spicer were back in court Friday morning for their arraignments.
Felicia Gross and her husband, Joshua Gross, both entered not guilty pleas. Felicia is charged with murder, while Joshua faces complicity to murder. Both are also charged with false reporting, abuse of a corpse, and tampering with physical evidence.
The case began on August 6, when Jayden was reported missing. Kentucky State Police say Felicia Gross later confessed to giving her son sleeping medication and taking him into the woods. Nearly a week later, Jayden’s body was discovered buried in a plastic tote near Canoe Road in Jackson.
During Friday’s hearing, prosecutors filed motions to obtain Jayden’s medical and school records as part of the ongoing investigation. Joshua Gross is represented by an attorney, while Felicia will need to have a public defender reappointed.
Both are scheduled to return to court on November 7.
