Mother, daughter killed when Jeep rear ends 18-wheeler
META, Ky. (WTVQ) – A daughter and her mother were killed Tuesday night when the Jeep the daughter was driving crashed into the rear of an 18-wheeler in Pike County.
According to Kentucky State Police, 31-year-old Vergena Fields, of Phelps, and 60-year-old Dottie Fields died in the accident which happened at about 8 p.m. on the State Highway 194 exit from US 119 in the Meta community of Pike County.
Vergena Fields was driving a 2019 Jeep Renegade onto US 119 from State Highway 194 E when hit the rear of a 2011 Freightliner driven by 56-year-old Talal Bilal, of Florida, the KSP said.
The mother and daughter both were pronounced dead at the scene, troopers sid.
The investigation is ongoing by KSP Accident Reconstructionist Trooper Josh Scott.
Trooper Scott was assisted on scene by Kentucky State Police Post 9 personnel, Kentucky State Police Commercial Vehicle Enforcement officers, Kimper Volunteer Fire Department, Coal Run Volunteer Fire Department and Lifeguard Ambulance Service.
