Mother and friend remember victim in hit-and-run accident in Lexington
LEXINGTON, Ky. (WTVQ) — “She was so much more than just that lone person that was walking and was struck by a car and, and then whoever was driving, who just left her behind, she didn’t deserve that,” says Diane Kahlo, Anna’s mother.
As the memories of Anna Kolokotsas continue to flood her mother Kahlo, she described her daughter as artistic, creative and a fighter in what she believed in.
“She had a bizarre sense of humor and made everyone, made people laugh. I mean, truly, she was funny and kind and, Anna was an activist,” says Kahlo.
Early last Tuesday, Anna was killed in a hit and run incident on North Broadway and Fourth Street near Transylvania University’s campus.
Those close to Anna want others to remember her as than just a victim in a hit and run and that her family continues searching for answers.
“She certainly wouldn’t have left anyone and it’s just not fair and it’s wrong, says Aja Jacobi, a former supervisor of Anna’s and her friend.
Kahlo adding that if her daughter were still with her, that fateful night, she would’ve never let her walk home, even though that was something she enjoyed.
“We lived downtown just two blocks from where the accident happened and she wanted to walk because it was cool and I think there was a light mist and she liked walking in that,” says Kahlo.
As the investigation into the incident is ongoing, “she was so good and she never saw it, she didn’t give herself credit for all the great things that she did,” added Jacobi.
