Mother Accused of Abandoning Baby Found Dead In Laurel County

        The Laurel County Sheriff’s office says a 10-week-old baby girl is dead and her mother is charged with abandonment.

        Investigators say 29-year-old Rachel Kilburn of Leslie County left her baby with her boyfriend’s brother who had no experience caring for a newborn so she and her boyfriend could leave town to party for a couple of days.
        Deputies say they found the baby dead in a home west of London following a 911 call from an unidentified person.

        Investigators say Kilburn’s boyfriend, 32-year-old Jonathon Haynes of London was charged with DUI and several other traffic offenses.
        The baby’s cause of death is pending autopsy results.
