Morehead Police arrest Lexington man after shooting incident

MOREHEAD, Ky. — A suspect is in custody following a shooting incident on Wednesday, July 10, 2024, in Morehead. The Morehead Police Department (MPD) responded to a 911 call reporting a disturbance on Rodburn Hollow Road, which escalated to gunshots upon their arrival.

Officers discovered a vehicle that had been struck multiple times by gunfire. The suspected shooter, identified as Dontae Duff from Lexington, Ky., was seen running into the woods toward the Daniel Boone National Forest.

With the assistance of the MPD Special Response Team, Rowan County Sheriff’s Office, and Morehead State University Police Department, a perimeter was established. The suspect was apprehended shortly after without further incident.

Duff faces multiple charges, including attempted murder, wanton endangerment, possession of a handgun by a convicted felon, and tampering with physical evidence. The investigation is ongoing, led by Officer Blake Carver.

Authorities remind the public that all individuals are presumed innocent until proven guilty.
