More Than 100 KY Bridges Need Repairs
According the National Bridge Inventory, Kentucky has 129 bridges that are in danger of collapsing.
The Kentucky Transportation Cabinet says many of those bridges are years past when they should be replaced or repaired and carrying more weight than they were originally designed to.
KTC says they check every bridge in the state every two years.
They say they allocate 24 million dollars toward bridge maintenance and say an average bridge repair costs about 250-thousand dollars.
When a bridge needs to be completely replaced, KTC says the federal government steps in and gives the state funding.
