Money awarded to Laurel County for road repairs

MANCHESTER, Ky. (WTVQ) – The Kentucky Transportation Cabinet says it has awarded Laurel County $567,650 to do resurfacing work on county roads.

Laurel County Judge-Executive David Westerfield said in press release $338,400 will be used for bituminous resurfacing on Twin Branch Road and High Moore Road.

The remaining $229,250 is going toward bituminous resurfacing on Levi Jackson Park Boulevard and Mill Street, according to Westerfield. These roads were said to be among the most critical in the city, according to London Mayor Troy Rudder in press release.

Rudder says, additional revenue will be used on the Levi Jackson Park Road and Mill Street.

“These roads are important to our community and I appreciate our local officials working with the Transportation Cabinet to identify areas where these funds can be put to work in the best way possible”, said Rep. Tommy Turner in press release.

The Kentucky Transportation Cabinet says local government agencies are responsible for administering the projects, and KYTC will reimburse the county and city for the work.
