Missing toddler found in Casey County
HUSTONVILLE, Ky. (WTVQ) – A missing toddler was found safe Monday night in Casey County after being gone from his home for 11 agonizing hours, according to State Police.
Investigators say 21-month old Logain Chumbley was found by volunteer search and rescue members approximately two miles from his home. He had a few scrapes, but otherwise appeared to be okay.
He was taken to Ephraim McDowell Regional Medical Center in Danville for treatment and observation, according to KSP.
Investigators say the toddler wandered away from his home around 9:00 a.m. Apparently there was confusion between his parents as to the boy’s whereabouts, so authorities weren’t notified the child was missing until noon, according to State Police.
A massive search effort ensued on the ground and in the air.
The family’s dog also went missing. State Police say the dog returned home a couple of hours before the child was found.
