UPDATE: Missing 48-year-old woman found dead in Laurel County

LAUREL COUNTY, Ky. (WTVQ) –  A 48-year-old woman reported missing earlier this week has been found dead in Laurel County and detectives are investigating the cause of death.

According to Laurel County Sheriff John Root, Det. Taylor McDaniel is investigating the discovery of the body of Deanne Barrett on Laurel River Church Road approximately five miles southeast of London at about 12:35 p.m. Wednesday.

The body was found in a small creek off Laurel River Church Road by a home owner checking her mail.

Investigators identified the body as Barrett, of Laurel River Church Road in London, who had been reported missing Tuesday. An autopsy will be conducted in Frankfort.

Assisting on the death investigation for the Sheriff’s office: Maj. Chuck Johnson, Capt. Robbie Grimes, Lieut. Chris Edwards, k-9 Deputy Jake Miller, Detective James Sizemore, Detective Robert Reed, Detective Richard Dalrymple, Sgt. Brett Reeves, Deputy Brad Mink. Other agencies assisting included: Laurel County Emergency Management, London-Laurel Rescue Squad, Laurel County EMS, Laurel County coroner’s office.

Laurel Sheriff’s Detective Taylor McDaniel who is the case officer continues his investigation.

LAUREL COUNTY, KY. (WTVQ) – Laurel County investigators say they are searching for a 48-year-old woman last seen Tuesday afternoon.

Deanne Barrett was last seen at about 2 p.m. Tuesday on Laurel River Church Road six miles southeast of London, the sheriff’s department said.

Sheriff’s Deputy Brad Mink is investigating.
