Middle school students hit the floor for Dance Blue

LEXINGTON, Ky. (WTVQ) – Several Lexington middle school students are dancing their feet off to help a classmate with kidney cancer.

Students at Jessie Clark Middle School are dancing all day Tuesday to raise money for Dance Blue. University of Kentucky students are at the school to help lead the dances.

The students are doing it in honor of Bethany Stephens, their classmate who has kidney cancer. Stephens was first diagnosed in kindergarten and had surgery to remove her right kidney. The cancer came back after being in remission for four-and-a-half years. She now only has 80% of her left kidney and will need a transplant.

Jessie Clark Middle School has raised over $10,000 for Dance Blue.

The money will go to help Stephens and other kids with cancer and help fund the new Dance Blue medical center.

It will be added into the grand total presented at an event in February.
