Man accused in deadly convenience store shooting pleads guilty
KNOX COUNTY, KY. (WTVQ) – A Michigan man accused of fatally shooting another man at a convenience store during an attempted robbery has pleaded guilty.
Phillip Lee Lewis entered the plea one day before he was scheduled to go to trial.
Police say Lewis went into the A&B Quick Stop in the Gray community in 2019, pointed a gun at the clerk and tried to rob the store.
Gary Medlin was in the store at the time and when he tried to run out of the store was shot repeatedly by Lewis, according to police.
Lewis is scheduled to be sentenced on April 3.
The commonwealth’s attorney is recommending 35-years.
