Meta removes Facebook group tracking ICE agents in Chicago

CHICAGO, IL. (ABC36 NEWS NOW) – Meta has taken down a large Facebook group that shared information about Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) agents in the Chicago area, following a request from the U.S. Department of Justice.

According to a post Tuesday on X from Attorney General Pam Bondi, the page — called “ICE Sighting Chicagoland” — had more than 80,000 members before it was removed.

Bondi said the group was being used to target ICE agents. A Meta spokesperson confirmed to The New York Times that the group violated company policies against “coordinated harm.”

Last week, Apple and Google also removed apps from their stores that were being used to track immigration agents.
