Mercer County approves deal with new emergency ambulance service
HARRODSBURG, Ky. (ABC36 NEWS NOW) – The Mercer County Fiscal Court today agreed to a contract with AmeriPro Health to provide emergency ambulance service for the county.
The contract would go into effect on April 27th, which is the day Raintree Health said would be the last day it would provide the service. The contract is contingent on the county receiving Emergency Certification of Need licensure.
The county would enter into the contract for a three-year period with AmeriPro, which is an emergency and medical transport company. According to County Judge/Executive Sarah Steele, the emergency service would cover all Mercer County residents, including those living in Harrodsburg and Burgin. Steele also said if for some reason current emergency services end before AmeriPro takes over, neighboring Boyle County would be able to provide the service for 24-hours, until AmeriPro could get its trucks into Mercer County.
Steele said AmeriPro will have two ambulances dedicated to service, with them being based in the Harrodsburg City Fire Department.
Each ambulance will be staffed with a paramedic and an EMT, or an Advanced EMT.
It’s not clear what the contract with AmeriPro will cost the county
