Mercer Co. Man charged with wanton endangerment
SPRINGFIELD, Ky. (WTVQ) – Police have arrested a Harrodsburg man after they say he nearly hit a deputy while driving off from a traffic stop.
Officers say 31-year-old Melvin L. Ison was arrested on Monday around 11:00 p.m. Officers say earlier in the day, around 4:30 p.m., Washington Co. deputies had responded to a call about some suspicious vehicles and possible drug activity. Deputies say they found two pickup trucks in connection with the call. When a deputy asked 2 passengers to exit one of the trucks, the driver of the second truck took off, almost hitting a deputy. The deputy fired a gun at the truck, according to investigators.
Later, the truck was found abandoned in Harrodsburg, and investigators determined the driver had been Ison. He was arrested in Harrodsburg and taken to the Marion Co. Detention Center. Ison was charged with wanton endangerment of a police officer.
