Mental competency evaluation for accused shooter in Danville pawn shop murders

A former pastor accused of shooting and killing three people in a Danville pawn shop is being given a mental competency evaluation.

Police say Kenneth Keith shot and killed Michael Hockensmith, his wife Angela Hockensmith and a customer Daniel Smith in September 2013.

Keith’s attorney requested the mental evaluation.

His attorney also says she plans to ask the judge to move the trial out of Boyle County because she thinks the publicity might make it impossible for him to get a fair trial.

Keith has pleaded not guilty.
