Menifee County man charged with child sexual exploitation offenses, KSP says
DENNISTON, Ky. (ABC36 NEWS NOW) — Kentucky State Police have charged a Menifee County man with multiple child sexual exploitation offenses following an undercover investigation.
According to KSP, 18-year-old Johnny Ray Shoopman was arrested on August 7, 2025, by the agency’s Electronic Crime Branch, which investigates online crimes against children.
The arrest stems from an undercover Internet Crimes Against Children (ICAC) operation in which Shoopman was allegedly found sharing images of child sexual abuse material online. Detectives executed a search warrant at a residence in Denniston, where they seized electronic equipment believed to be used in the crime.
Shoopman is facing the following charges:

Three counts of possession of matter portraying a minor in a sexual performance (Class D felonies)

One count of procuring or promoting the use of a minor by electronic means (Class C felony)

One count of promoting a minor under 16 in a sexual performance (Class B felony)
Shoopman is currently being held at the Powell County Detention Center. The investigation remains ongoing.
