Men charged with dragging, punching women in separate assaults

LAUREL COUNTY, Ky. (WTVQ) – One man is charged with dragging a woman and another is charged with punching a woman in the face in separate domestic assaults in Laurel County.

According to Laurel County Sheriff John Root, 54-year-old Ricky King is charged with fourth-degree assault in connection with an incident Wednesday afternoon on South Laurel Road about two miles south of London.

Sgt. Brett Reeves and Deputy Rodney VanZant responded to a disturbance and were told King had dragged a female victim through the grass ripping her ear rings out. Deputies noted the female victim was covered in mud, the sheriff said.

King told deputies nothing had happened.

In an unrelated case early Wednesday morning, 28-year-old Cody Wilburn

was charged with fourth-degree assault and DUI for allegedly punching a woman in the face after pushing her to the ground, according to the sheriff.

Deputy Justin Taylor along with Deputy Landry Collett responded to a disturbance on Echo Valley Road, about six miles south of London. The call included an alleged assault on Braxton Lane in the Lily area, the sheriff said.

Deputies learned a verbal disagreement turned physical when Wilburn allegedly shoved a woman to the ground, punching her in the face. Deputies noted several knots on the woman’s face, Root said.

Wilburn left the Braxton Road area but was caught in a traffic stop on Echo Valley Road.
