Memorial Day holiday collections, closings in Lexington

LEXINGTON, Ky. (WTVQ) – The Division of Waste Management will adjust its collection schedule for the upcoming Memorial Day holiday on Monday, May 25th. Residents who normally receive Monday pick-up from the division will receive their collection service on Wednesday, May 27th. No collection will be made on the holiday. Residents who normally receive residential pick-up on Tuesdays, Thursdays and Fridays will be serviced as usual.

Residents who normally receive Monday pick-up should set their Herbies, Rosies and Lennies out after 4 p.m. on Tuesday, May 26th to ensure collection the next day.

Businesses that have city waste management services for their dumpsters (landfill-bound and recycling) normally receiving pick-up on Mondays will have their units serviced on Tuesday, May 26th. Businesses normally having pick-ups on Tuesdays will have their units serviced on Wednesday, May 27th. Thursday and Friday pick-ups will be made as usual.

“As the spring season draws to a close and summer months approach, our division will continue to keep residents informed regarding changes in the pick-up schedule due to holidays,” said Tracey Thurman, Director of the Division of Waste Management. “We have provided you with this holiday schedule for your information and convenience, allowing you to plan in advance for the upcoming change in pick-up dates.” 

Lexington-Fayette Urban County Government offices, as well as the Lexington Recycling Center, the city’s Electronic Recycling Center and the Haley Pike Waste Management Facility, will be closed on the holiday.
