Memorial ceremony planned for fallen officer Daniel Ellis
RICHMOND, Ky. (ABC36 NEWS NOW) – The Richmond Police Department is honoring the life and legacy of Officer Daniel Ellis with a memorial ceremony marking 10 years since his death in the line of duty.
According to police, Officer Ellis was shot in the head in November 2015 while searching for an armed robbery suspect at an apartment in Richmond. He later died from his injuries.
The suspect, Raleigh Sizemore Jr., was convicted and is now serving a life sentence in prison. Three others were also arrested and charged in connection with the case.
Officers say the 10th annual memorial ceremony will take place this morning at 9:30 at the Richmond Police Department on Lexington Road.
