Members of Ecuador’s armed forces comes to Lexington

LEXINGTON, Ky. (WTVQ) — Senior level members from Ecuador’s armed forces arrived in Lexington to work with the Kentucky National Guard, Kentucky Emergency Management and the Lexington Fire Department.

This is a partnership that has been going on since 1996. Both Ecuador and Kentucky have similar issues with flooding.

Here’s what one admiral had to say about the relationship.

“I would like to mention that we can benefit from learning from each other and sharing experiences,” said Jaime Patricio Vela Erazo.

While here, members of Ecuador’s armed forces will get the opportunity to watch demonstrations of how to use equipment and have discussions about emergency management.
