MedTech closes, college to release transcripts Thursday

MedtechLEXINGTON, Ky. (WTVQ)-Students at MedTech say they are confused after their school closed its doors for good.

The school’s closing, leaves many questions unanswered. Students say they received an email Tuesday night that classes would be cancelled the next day, but they had no idea it would be closing.

Earlier this summer, the school was forced to close its campuses in Virginia, Maryland and D.C. The U.S. Department of Education denied MedTech’s re-certification which the school says led to financial struggles.

Many students in Lexington told ABC 36 that they were not aware of the school’s financial troubles.

Spencerian College has offered to waive application fees for MedTech students wanting to transfer. A sign on the front door inside the college says there will be someone handing out transcripts for students to pick up in person Thursday between 12-5 p.m.
