Medicaid eligibility expands with K-HIPP

FRANKFORT, Ky. (WTVQ) – The Kentucky Cabinet for Health and Family Services said medicaid eligibility is expected to expand through an improved application process.

K-HIPP is a program administered by the Department of Medicaid Services through CHFS. It helps Kentuckians pay the cost of an employer-sponsored health insurance plan by sharing the cost of the premium.

Employee-sponsored health insurance policy holders not on medicaid are eligible to apply for K-HIPP starting November 4th. Those enrolled in a 1915(c) Medicaid Home and Community Based Services (HCBS) waiver are also eligible, according to the CHFS.

The CHFS said Kentuckians enrolled in the existing Health Insurance Premium Payment (HIPP) program will transition to KI-HIPP in December 2019 and no action is required.
