Mechanical failure temporarily closes Lexington’s Recycling Center
LEXINGTON, Ky. (WTVQ) – Lexington’s Recycling Center announced Thursday is has to temporarily shut down.
The center says it’s because of a gearbox motor failure on the facility’s main conveyor belt.
According to center, it is experiencing a backlog of materials due to mechanical failures.
Recyclables picked up Thursday and Friday will be diverted to the landfill.
The center is asking people to recycle right and keep recyclables dry to help prevent future equipment issues at the facility.
The center is expected to begin accepting material again beginning on Monday April 22.
