McLaughlin receives top teaching award from KEA

LEXINGTON, Ky. (WTVQ)- The Kentucky Education Association awarded Susan McLaughlin  the KEA Award for Teaching Excellence, which came with a $1,000 prize and a commemorative apple.

The honor was presented jointly by the National Education Association and the NEA Foundation for the Improvement of Education. McLaughlin will also be congratulated at the July 23 school board meeting in Lexington.

As a state-level winner, McLaughlin is now in the running for the NEA Foundation Award for Teaching Excellence, which will be announced in early 2019.

McLaughlin has worked in Fayette County Public Schools since 1996 – most recently as an Integrated Science and Physics teacher at Lafayette High School. For the 2018-19 school year, she will take on a new position as a behavior interventionist at Maxwell Elementary, a Spanish immersion magnet school.
