McGrath not running for office in 2019
LEXINGTON, Ky. (WTVQ)- Amy McGrath made a statement on her Facebook page that she will not be running for any sort of office in 2019.
Here is her full statement:
My family and I send our best wishes to you for peace, health, and happiness this Holiday Season. We are gearing up for Christmas and, in particular, Santa’s visit to our house. My boys have left numerous messages at the 1-800 Santa hotline number declaring in a voicemail exactly which transformer or dinosaur is requested. I don’t know how Santa will keep up! Ellie is just in wonder of the lights and sights of the season.
For Erik and me, this season is a time to slow down, enjoy all the moments, and be reminded of the joys of family and faith. Since the election, I have even returned to flying, which has been a tremendous joy. I will miss my father this year, but I expect that he is watching over us and his spirit will be in the smiles of his grandchildren this Christmas.
It was an inspiring 2018, a year of life lived to its fullest, with passion, and drive exhibited by so many who worked for our country. Our democracy became better this year because of that work, because of us. Of this, I’m sure.
I wish to thank you for your trust and belief in me throughout this past year. One thing I have learned is that our message remains relevant and there is much work yet to be done and much more bold leadership needed here in Kentucky and around the country. I am humbled by the encouragement to throw my hat back in the ring right away here in Kentucky.
But after lots of consideration, I will not be a candidate for any statewide office in 2019. That doesn’t mean I’ll stop working for the values and beliefs we all care about. I deeply wish to help move Kentucky and our country forward and I can assure you that I will continue to speak out on the important issues of the day.
Merry Christmas, Happy Holidays, and Happy New Year.
