McGrath claims ‘momentum’ in district Trump won in ’16
WINCHESTER, Ky. (AP) – Democrat Amy McGrath is entering the final week of the campaign with a large fundraising advantage over incumbent Republican U.S. Rep. Andy Barr in Kentucky’s 6th Congressional district.
McGrath, a retired Marine fighter pilot, has about $1 million more than Barr left to spend. She has raised a total of $7.8 million compared to Barr’s $4.8 million.
McGrath told a group of volunteers on Friday her campaign has momentum. But she’s running in a district that Republican President Donald Trump won by double digits in 2016. Trump campaigned with Barr earlier this month. On Saturday, Interior Secretary Ryan Zinke will appear with Barr to make a “major announcement about the future preservation of historic Camp Nelson Civil War Heritage Park.”
