McDonald’s and International Women’s Day

Today in the U.S., 62% of McDonald’s employees are female. From employees and franchisees, to suppliers and community partners, to our customers, McDonald’s recognizes, and is inspired by, women’s strength and leadership. These two women have found success working for McDonald’s, paving the way for other women and raising each other up as they do it. Denise Long has been a McDonald’s owner-operator of five restaurants in the Lexington area for 12 years. She is a member of the McDonald’s Women’s Operator Network (WON) and is extremely involved in the local Ronald McDonald House Charities. Years ago, when Denise started as an owner-operator, she was trained by Grace Turner. Grace taught Denise the in’s and out’s of every station in the restaurant and helped her develop into a strong leader. Grace quickly became Denise’s go-to gal. Grace Turner is a General Manager at Denise’s McDonald’s restaurant at 1954 Stanton Way in Lexington. She employs a full management team of only women. Grace is the youngest of 12 kids and has worked in this specific organization for 30 years. She started working at McDonald’s at 16 years old as a crew member and rose through the ranks to her current position as GM. During her time, she has managed five McDonald’s restaurants and trained two different owner-operators, including Denise. By working at McDonald’s, specifically working with Denise, Grace has been able to develop her leadership skills and learned how to effectively communicate.
