McCreary County Firefighter Remains In Critical Condition

A McCreary county firefighter burned in a house fire Friday night remains in critical condition.
Lieutenant Arlie Hill and Lieutenant Adam Stephens were both off duty when they spotted their neighbor’s home on fire on Water Plant Road at around 10:30 p.m., according to Greg Bird, spokesperson for the Whitley City Fire Department.
Bird said the two firefighters went into the home to look for occupants and that’s when there was a "flash over" event.
Hill suffered burns over 90% of his body, Bird said.
Stephens, who suffered burns to his arms and face, was able to pull Hill out of the fire.
Hill was rushed to the University of Cincinnati Hospital in critical condition.
According to Bird, Stephens did not need medical treatment and has remained at the hospital with Hill.
Arson investigators were out at the scene Saturday but Bird said they do not believe the fire was intentionally set.
He also said the home was being rented and no one was there at the time of the fire.
He is not sure if the renters were still living in the home or if they had moved out.
A Facebook page has been set up for Hill. It is "Prayers for Pooh." "Pooh" is Hill’s nickname, according to Bird.
He also said he believes a page will be set up for donations soon.
