McConnell: GOP will take over KY House
LEXINGTON, Ky. (WTVQ) – U.S. Senate Majority Leader Mitch McConnell, R-Kentucky, met privately with Republican Governor Matt Bevin Wednesday.
The once political rivals are now GOP allies.
McConnell then met with business leaders in Lexington where ABC 36 caught up with him.
McConnell is confident Republicans will be able to take over the House in Kentucky but he doesn’t know when it will happen.
The GOP only needs five seats to take control.
The senator says change is coming and he believes with that change, Kentucky will eventually be more competitive with other states.
He adds that Governor Bevin is off to a good state. McConnell plans to help recruit other Republican candidates for state house races then help them win to keep the GOP momentum moving forward.
Governor Bevin has called a special election to fill vacancies in the house, which he hopes will be filled by Republicans.
The party already controls the Senate in the state.
