Mayor Jim Gray releases short form details of city budget proposal

LEXINGTON, Ky. (WTVQ) – At a press conference on Tuesday morning, Lexington Mayor Jim Gray revealed a few details of his city budget proposal.

The Mayor says public safety is the dominating focus of his proposed budget, which also includes funding for economic development, parks, basic services, efficiency and quality of life.

The proposed budget is 345 million dollars for the new fiscal year starting July first, according to the Mayor, which is about $20 million more than the current budget.

The Mayor also noted that this is the fourth year the city of Lexington is operating with a surplus.

The Mayor will deliver his full budget speech to the Urban County Council at 3:00 p.m., Tuesday afternoon.

The speech will be broadcast on G-TV3 and live-streamed at www.lexingtonky.gov.
