Mayor Jim Gray files for US Senate in KY
LEXINGTON, Ky. (WtVQ) – Today, Mayor Jim Gray announced he is running for the United States Senate.
“Washington is in gridlock, I want to change that,” he said.
Mayor Gray stated Lexington is healthier than ever, and the city’s unemployment is less than half it was when he took office. Lexington created a third of the new businesses in Kentucky since the low point of the Great Recession.
“In Lexington, we turned a deficit into a surplus, saved taxpayers millions of dollars, and created jobs faster than the state average.”
Mayor Gray is running against Republican Senator Rand Paul, who has been a U.S. senator since 2011, and who has been campaigning to become the next U.S. President.
“As Senator Rand Paul prepares for re-election, he hopes voters will remember his tireless work to balance the budget, his fight against President Obama’s War on Coal, his fight against Obamacare, and that Senator Paul has returned to the taxpayer over $2 million from his office budget,” said Rand Paul’s Senior Adviser Doug Stafford
