Mayor honors outgoing Lexington councilmembers
LEXINGTON, Ky. (WTVQ) – Mayor Linda Gorton is welcoming four new councilmembers to the city, as longterm members leaving office are honored.
“This month, we said our farewells to four Councilmembers. I joined the outgoing Councilmembers and recognized them with a day in their honor,” said Mayor Gorton.
Councilmember Bill Farmer, Jr. has served 20 years representing the 5th District.
Councilmember Jennifer Mossotti has served the 9th District for 16 years.
Councilmember Mark Swanson was appointed to complete the term of the late Jake Gibbs. Mark has represented the 3rd District since March of this year.
Councilmember Lisa Higgins-Hord was appointed to complete the term of Angela Evans, who resigned to further her education. Lisa started her service to the 6th District in August.
“We thank all of these Councilmembers for their commitment and service to our community,” said Gorton.
The mayor also welcomed the four newest members who will begin serving in January 2021:
• 3rd District – Hannah LeGris
• 5th District – Liz Sheehan
• 6th District – David Kloiber
• 9th District – Whitney Elliott Baxter
