Man in wheelchair and his dog injured in hit-and-run accident

LEXINGTON, Ky. (WTVQ) – Lexington Police say a man in a motorized wheelchair and his dog were injured in a hit-and-run accident Wednesday night.

Investigators say the pair were crossing Alexandria Drive in front of a Wendy’s when they were hit by a man driving a red Mitsubishi Montero, who then drove away from the scene.

Police say the victim, whose name wasn’t released, was taken to the hospital with non-life threatening injuries.

The dog suffered “significant” injuries, according to police.

Police are looking for the hit-and-run vehicle and its driver.
