Man wanted in connection to 2013 murder arrested after allegedly shooting at police in Garrard County
LANCASTER, Ky. (ABC 36 NEWS NOW via LEX NEWS) — A 55-year-old man wanted in connection to a 2013 murder is now facing additional charges after he allegedly fired a weapon at police at home in Garrard County Friday.
According to Kentucky State Police, officers responded to a home on Polly’s Bend Road just before 9:30 a.m. with a warrant for the arrest of Jason Patterson.
KSP reports that Patterson was wanted in Christian County in connection to the murder of 53-year-old Faye Springfield, who was found dead in her Hopkinsville apartment on July 30, 2013.
After lengthy negotiations, Patterson allegedly fired a weapon at police and fled into the woods.
“After a lengthy search, Patterson was located by KSP aircraft personnel, two rope technicians from USAR TF-1 and KSP Special Response Team members on a cliffside, where he appeared to have sustained injuries from an approximate 40-foot fall,” KSP said.
Patterson was treated on the scene before being hoisted from the area. He was then transported to UK Hospital for further treatment.
The suspect remains in KSP custody while at the hospital, and after his release, he will be served an outstanding murder warrant and lodged in jail.
The investigation remains ongoing.
