Man tied to deadly Laurel County boating crash arrested again on new charges

LAUREL COUNTY, Ky. (ABC36 NEWS NOW) — A man previously arrested in connection with a deadly boating accident in Laurel County earlier this year has been arrested again and is due in court today on new charges.

According to the Laurel County Sheriff’s Office, 54-year-old Don Peace was arrested Saturday night on West Cumberland Gap Parkway while deputies were conducting an unrelated traffic stop.

The sheriff’s office says Peace is now charged with resisting arrest, disorderly conduct, and obstruction or interference with an officer.

As previously reported, Peace was arrested in July in connection with a deadly boat crash on Laurel River Lake that claimed the life of his brother.

At the time, Kentucky Department of Fish and Wildlife Resources officers charged Peace with vehicular homicide while under the influence of alcohol and operating a boat while intoxicated.

Court records show Peace is scheduled to appear in court on the new charges.
